The Logan Public Library aims to offer a variety of materials & services to our patrons as part of our circulating collection. To this end the Logan Public Library has acquired & made available five HP Laptop Computers for use by our patrons through The American Library Association (ALA) & Capital One Community Connect: Fostering Digital Access grant program. This program supports digital access & financial capability in rural communities across the United States.
Laptops
Check out an HP Laptop for home use from the library. Five laptop kits are available for patron check-out, each kit includes an HP laptop, two piece charging cable, a quick start guide, & a protective carrying case. Laptops include Microsoft Office access.

Lending Information
- Laptop computers may be checked out at the circulation desk during library hours by a Logan Public Library patron who is 18 years of age or older AND with an account in good standing.
- Laptops may be checked out individually or together. Only one laptop may be checked out per household.
- Laptops may be checked out for a period of two weeks (14 days) with no renewal. When necessary the library will utilize a waitlist to ensure equitable patron access.
- Overdue items will be charged a fee of $10.00 per day up to the replacement cost of the device.
- Patrons must sign the Library Equipment Lending Contract. This contract must be completed each time a laptop is borrowed. Patrons must provide current ID & confirm their contact details before taking possession of the equipment.
- Laptops must be returned inside of the library during regular operating hours & must be delivered directly to a staff member. DO NOT leave laptops outside of the library or unattended on any library desk or counter. Borrowing patrons must return the equipment & all accompanying materials in good condition.
- The library is not responsible for personal information shared over the internet or for the information or websites accessed during the use of these devices.
- The library is not responsible for any liability, damages, or expenses resulting from the use of the laptop computers or internet hotspots.
The borrowing patron agrees to abide by the library’s policies & rules, & agrees to hold the library & its agents harmless from any and all claims, losses, damages, obligations, or liabilities, directly or indirectly relating to the use of the library’s laptop computers, & the internet access provided by the library.

Q. Can I save my information (documents, passwords, etc) to the laptop & request the same unit for my next use?
A. Laptops will be wiped clean upon return; all passwords, documents, autofill suggestions, etc. will be removed & deleted. We recommend saving documents to a cloud service such as Google Drive or Dropbox, or saving items to a flashdrive.
Q. Can I place a hold on a laptop?
A. Yes, patrons may ask to join our waitlist at any time. When a device is available you will be notified by phone & will have two business days to pick up your device before it will be released to the next patron in line.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. Borrowing and using the device is free! If the device is damaged, lost, or beyond repair you will be responsible any costs up to a full replacement fee of $1,000.00 for a laptop.
Q. What information about my Internet usage, if any, is tracked by the library or the service provider?
A. Your Internet usage is not tracked by the Library or by the service provider. The Library does not have access to nor does it collect specific usage data. The Library does not provide patron information to the service provider.
Q. Is there content filtering or site blocking software installed on these devices?
A. There is not. We recommend supervision of children & minors by an adult when they are using these devices. The Logan Public Library is not responsible for the content accessed by patrons using these devices.
