The Logan Public Library aims to offer a variety of materials & services to our patrons as part of our circulating collection. To this end the Logan Public Library has acquired & made available a Zhumell Z114 Telescope through our participation in the Library Telescope Project, facilitated by the Omaha Astronomical Society. This telescope may be checked out by a Logan Public Library patron who is 18 years of age or older AND with an account in good standing.
Because there are many steps involved in lending out this item we require that patrons make an appointment at least 1 business day in advance to pick up the telescope. Appointments may be requested by phone at 712-644-2551 or using the contact form below, appointments are based on staff availability. When you arrive to pick up the telescope you will be required to complete a quick training module, & sign the Library Telescope Lending Contract. This contract must be completed each time the telescope is borrowed. Patrons must provide current ID & confirm their contact details before taking possession of the telescope.
The telescope may be checked out for a period of two weeks (14 days) with no renewal. When necessary the library will utilize a waitlist to ensure equitable patron access. The overdue fine for the telescope is $10.00 per day. If the telescope is overdue for a period of 30 days the full replacement cost ($500) will be charged to the borrowing patron.

When completing the online contact form please list 2 to 3 dates with times that would be convenient for you. A staff member will review your form & respond with availability & confirm an appointment time. If the telescope is currently checked out we will add you to our wait-list & respond with an estimated return date & additional information. Please note, not all staff members are able to complete the telescope lending process. Requests for pickup must be made at least 1 business day in advance & will be scheduled based on staff availability. We estimate the telescope pickup will take new users 20 minutes. |
